The West Valley softball team pounded out 19 hits to overwhelm Chabot 12-3 Wednesday in Hayward. The Vikings stormed out to a 5-0 first inning lead and were never threatened to imporve to 6-0 on the season.

The five-run first was highlighted by a two-run single from Bianca Ceja and a Cayla Williams RBI single. The Vikings added two more in the second on a Williams two-run double, and then RBI doubles from Williams and Tyavana Salazar made it 9-0 in the fourth.

Chabot picked up three unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 9-3 and extend the game. Maddie Grissom put it away for good in the top of the seventh when she sent a 2-1 pitch to deep right for a three-run homer.

Willams picked up the win in the circle and finished 5-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored. Grissom went 3-for-4 with four RBI and four runs scored. Allie Whitfield finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Michelle Gonzalez, Kianna Lum, Ceja and Salazar had two hits each.
