No. 13 Cougars Travel To No. 13 San Bernardino Valley For First-Round Playoff Game

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Following a successful regular season on the baseball diamond, College of the Canyons earned a No. 13 seed and will travel No. 4 San Bernardino Valley College in the opening round of the California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Regional Playoffs in a best-of-three series.
The College of the Canyons baseball team finished off the regular season in dramatic style with two conference victories over L.A. Mission, which pushed COC into second place in the conference, after playing in third place most of the year.
COC finished the 2013 regular season at 22-14 overall and posted a 17-7 conference record after a tough start that included the Cougars entering the month of March with a 5-9 overall record and 1-4 record in conference play. COC bounced back in conference play as the team hit its midseason stride and rattled off 10 consecutive Western State Conference victories.
San Bernardino Valley, a member of the Foothill Conference, won its conference championship with a 20-4 record and were 28-8 overall.
The first playoff game will be held on Friday, May 3 at 2 p.m. Game two is slated to begin Saturday, May 4 at 11 a.m. Game three, if necessary, will begin 30 minutes following game two.
The winner of the COC/San Bernardino match-up will advance to the Southern California Super Regionals, set for May 10-12 and hosted by the two remaining top-seeded teams.
Fresno City College will play host to this year's baseball state championships, being held May 17-19.
