SBCC cruised past Cerritos 9-0 on Friday without dropping a set in a non-conference women's tennis victory at Cerritos.

The Vaqueros (9-1) have won nine in a row, including four by shutout. Cerritos is 1-8.

The Vaqueros dominated the doubles, losing just five out of 29 games, to take a 3-0 lead. Jamaica Buyse had a tight second set in a 6-1, 7-5 triumph at No. 2 singles and her sister, Joica, was pushed to a tiebreaker at No. 4 but still prevailed 7-6 (6), 6-2.

"We won the doubles handily and the closest singles were at No. 2 and 4," noted SBCC coach Christina Klein, after picking up her 40th win in less than three years (she's 40-10 for an .800 win percentage). "Jamaica was able to close out the second set with a 7-5 win. At No. 4, Joica won a tight tie-breaker 7-6 (8-6), 6-2. Overall, everyone else won pretty handily.

The Vaqueros are 6-0 in WSC action and they'll start the second round of conference on Tuesday at Ventura, starting at 2 p.m.
