Basketball season ends at SBVC

The Saddleback men's basketball season came to a close on Saturday night in the regional semifinals at San Bernardino Valley College.  The Bobcats fell 77-45 to a hot shooting Wolverine squad.

Saddleback's run came to an end on Saturday as the No. 4 seeded Wolverines defeated the Bobcats to advance to the regional finals.  Saddleback got into foul trouble and never recovered.

Saddleback led briefly during the opening five minutes of the game but once San Bernardino Valley took a lead with just over 14 minutes remaining, the Wolverines never relinquished the lead until the final buzzer sounded.

Saddleback had a tough first half when they turned the ball over eight times, leading to a number of easy baskets for the Wolverines.  San Bernarindo finished with 17 points off of turnovers, most of which came in the opening frame.  The Bobcats trailed 40-29 at the intermission and never recovered as the lead grew larger in the second half.

Saddleback got into foul trouble early in the second half as the Bobcats were whistled for 25 fouls in the game.  San Bernardino Valley capitalized, making 21-of-28 attempts from the charity stripe.

Jimuel Reyes led Saddleback with 15 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field.  The Bobcats eventually ran out of steam after both Gerald Jones III and James Burries fouled out of the game down the stretch, making baskets tough to generate.  Saddleback made just 5-of-24 shots in the final 20 minutes, connecting on only 1-of-10 from three-point range.

San Bernardino Valley was led by Dominique Daniels, who finished with a game-high 29 points.  The Wolverines now advance to the regional finals where they will host Pasadena City College.

Saddleback finishes the season 19-11.
