It was the tale of two different Glendale teams Friday Oct. 18 against Canyons at Sartoris Field.  In the first 45 minute half, the Vaqs allowed the visitors to be the aggressors as they trailed 1-0 and left the field to huddle, determined to play better and they did as tow second half goals and stingier defense paced them to a 2-1 win and into first place in the WSC South at 1-0-1 in conference and 9-5-2 overall.

Sophomore Wilmer Bonilla got GCC on the board with a goal at the 55:07 mark of the second half on an assist by Jose Carmona and then Bonilla provided the assist on the game winner by Carmona at the 81:41 mark to seal the win for Glendale. Despite allowing just one goal in the first half, goalie Tito Tejada had four goalie saves as the Glendale defense tightened up in the second 45 minute stanza as Cantons failed to mount any serious challengers offensively.

Glendale plays at  second place Bakersfield at 2 pm Tuesday Oct. 22 in a battle for first place.
