Owls Battle Two Ranked Teams

Citrus College battled two ranked teams at the PCC Quad Tournament Friday but came up just short, falling 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-12) to No. 11-ranked Pasadena City College and 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-20) to fourth-ranked Ventura College.

The Owls slip to 2-7 on the year with the losses. The Lancers improve to 8-2 on the year, while the Pirates remain undefeated.

In the opening match of the tournament, Miah Soriano and Kalin Greene each led the Owls with four kills, while Vanessa Marquez dished out 12 assists. Alexis Aguayo posted 14 digs defensively.

In the second game against the undefeated Pirates, Citrus struggled to find its footing offensively. Greene and Gabriella Aguilar each led the Owls with three kills, while Aguayo proved to be a threat from the line with four aces in the match.

Citrus returns home to the Owls' Nest on Wednesday, hosting Cal Lutheran at 6 p.m.
