COD (1-6; 0-2) began their Conference schedule with a road contest against the El Camino Warriors (8-1; 2-0) and the host, Mt. San Antonio Mounties of Walnut (2-5; 1-1), where the Roadrunners "One's" team remained undefeated, but the team fell, 4-1 and 3-2.

Mt. San Antonio hosted the South Coast Conference (SCC) opener at their new Beach Volleyball courts named "Mountie Beach" in Walnut.

The Roadrunners first challenge of the event was a 2019 State Finalist, the El Camino Warriors. The "ones" team of sophomore Katie Geiberger-Teigen (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Evanne Jimenez (Ventura H.S.) grabbed the sole win for Desert, taking the Warriors in an extra set, 21-16, 19-21 and 15-8. El Camino maintained their undefeated conference status and took the match against the Roadrunners, 4-1.

The next challenge for Desert would be in facing the host, Mt. San Antonio Mounties. The "ones" team of Geiberger-Teigen and Jimenez would push past the Mounties, staying undefeated in 2020 and winning 21-17 and 21-7. The "twos" team of sophomore Jomarie Viloria (Rancho Mirage H.S.) and freshman Kylie Beckett (Spokane (WA) Central Valley) would top the Mounties in an extra set, winning 21-13, 18-21 and 15-9.

The next home matches for College of the Desert Beach Volleyball will be Friday, February 13th beginning at 8 a.m., at the Civic Center Park, where they will host the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville and the Long Beach City Vikings. Hope to see you there.
