Brandon Betson and Cartrell Thompson had 18 points apiece, as the San Bernardino Valley College men's basketball team opened a 17-point halftime lead, then cruised through the second half as the Wolverines beat Victor Valley 77-55 Saturday afternoon.

The two teams traded shots (and the lead) early in the game, but SBVC took over the game with 7:38 gone in the first half, as a Betson jumper sent the Wolverines on a 14-2 run that turned a tie game into a 13-point lead.

SBVC extended its lead to 20 under five minutes into the second half, but the Rams would not let the Wolverines pull away much farther than that.

Jaren Williams added 15 points off the bench for the Wolverines, while Cameron Butler added 11 rebounds in the win.

Eric Figueroa led the Rams with 12 points.
