Compton, Calif. - Freshman Alfredo Trujillo's goal in the 74th minute lifted the Compton men's soccer team to a 1-0 season opening victory over Southwestern on Tuesday afternoon.
Trujillo broke away from midfield and connected to the near side past the keeper on a feed from freshman Adonis Arevalo.
Freshman Ruben Martinez recorded seven saves with freshman Jaime Serna adding one.
The Tartars (1-0) host Golden West next on Friday, Aug. 31 at 2 p.m.
