Jones and Vaefa Win Conference Doubles Title

TORRANCE, Calif. --- The El Camino College women's tennis team's top doubles pair claimed the 2022 South Coast Conference title on Thursday afternoon at the ECC Tennis Courts.

Julia Jones and Kekoa Vaefa, the top-seeded doubles team in the bracket, scored an 8-4 victory in the finals against College of the Desert's No. 3 seeded team of Emunah Daffon and Augustina Berrondo.

The win marks the third straight year of competition in which the SCC Doubles Champions have come from ECC. Madi Giese and Lina Ito won back-to-back conference crowns in 2018-19.

Jones and Vaefa started the day having to face teammates and No. 4 seeds Danay Holman and Kayla Brown in the semifinals. Jones and Vaefa scored an 8-3 victory to advance to the finals, where they claimed the crown.
