Hawks Dominant Against Lassen

The Cosumnes River Hawks dominated a doubleheader Saturday against Lassen College, winning 11-0 and 14-0. The Hawks were led by two outstanding pitching performances from Ashlee Toy who threw a no-hitter in game one and Danielle Pfenning who gave up only two hits in game two.

"Obviously the pitching was outstanding," said head coach Kristy Schroeder. "I thought it was a total team effort.  Everybody played and contributed to the wins which is exactly what we want to see."

Toy earned her first career no-hitter by striking out nine over just five innings in game one. Offensively, CRC jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on Gabi Lipsky's RBI single and then broke the game open with seven runs in the second inning. Toy, Mary Baccay, Lipskey, and Tamisha McBride paced the Hawks with two hits each. Baccay and Leandra Coronado both had triples.

The Hawks broke open a close game two by exploding for 12 runs in the 4th inning. Baccay stayed hot going 4-4 with two doubles, a triple and 4 RBIs. Pfenning had three hits and three RBIs while earning the win in the circle. McBride, Lipsky, and Coronado all added two hits and two runs for CRC.

The Hawks close out their non-conference slate on Tuesday, February 22 as they travel to San Jose City College for doubleheader.
