COD Women’s Soccer rolls as Johnson scores 5 in rout of Huskies, 9-0

COD (3-2-3) had an offensive explosion as they faced off with a team for the first time in 16 years, Monserrath Bedolla Guzman had 3 goals and Dalaina Johnson had 5 as the Roadrunners thumped the East Los Angeles Huskies of Monterey Park, 9-0.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Uribe (Indio Shadow Hills) grabbed her fourth clean sheet of the season, making five saves in the win. She shared the clean sheet with freshman goal keeper Stephanie Pina (Indio H.S.), who played the final 26 minutes of the match and made three saves. Sophomore forward Monserrath Bedolla Guzman (Thermal Coachella Valley) not only had a "Hat Trick," but also moved into the Top 5 in the State in goals with her eighth goal of the season and freshman forward Dalaina Johnson (Cathedral City H.S.) claimed the state lead in goals with 15, matching her jersey number.

The Roadrunners played the East Los Angeles Huskies of Monterey Park for the first time in program history in 2006. The Roadrunners have a 1-1 record against East Los Angeles in Palm Desert. The next match-up for Desert is on Friday, September 23rd at the Chaffey Panthers of Rancho Cucamonga. The Roadrunners first played Chaffey in 2002. Desert has an away record of 0-15 against the Panthers. The next match that will take place in Palm Desert for the Roadrunners is on Tuesday, September 27th at 4:00p, against the Compton Tartars. Desert first competed against the Tartars in 2010. The Roadrunners have an overall record of 3-4-1 against Compton and a 1-2 record in the Coachella Valley.
