Women's Basketball at Modesto Tournament
The Women's Basketball team participated in the Modesto Tournament this past weekend. To open up the tournament the Panthers took on Napa Valley (0-6) and earned their first win of the season 75-41. After trailing 16-15 to end the first quarter, the Panthers had a great second quarter limiting the Storm to just four points while extending their lead to 35-20 at the half. Leading the Panthers offensively were Isabelle Dorado who scored a season high 36 points, seven assists and six steals. Priscilla Diaz chipped in 16 points and 14 rebounds and Emily Tinajero added 11 points five assists and three rebounds.
On Friday the Panthers were defeated by Victor Valley (4-5) 80-33. The Panthers couldn't carry over their offensive outburst from the night before. Isabelle Dorado scored 13 points, Elizabeth Escalera scored two points with 10 rebounds, and Itzel Orozco scored five points and seven rebounds.
On the last day of the tournament the Panthers took on Los Medanos (2-6). The Panthers took a 36-29 lead into halftime. Heading into the third quarter the Panthers couldn't sustain their red hot shooting they had shown in the first two quarters. It was a tale of two halves for the Panthers who scored 36 points in the first two quarters but only managed 20 in the last two allowing Los Medanos to close the gap take the lead and end up with a victory 74-56. Isabelle Dorado continues to score points with 24 grabbing 7 rebounds and five steals. Emily Tinajero added 14 points and Priscilla Diaz with eight.
The Panthers (1-11) will travel to take on Oxnard and LA Southwest on Dec. 19 and 20 before heading into winter break.
