Falcons upended in overtime

The FLC women's basketball team, fresh off a 51 point win on Thursday, took perennial state powerhouse Los Angeles Trade Tech to the edge on Friday afternoon before falling to the Beavers in overtime, 75-72 in the second round of the Cosumnes River Invitational Tournament.  The Falcons nearly tied it up on a last-second three-point attempt that went halfway down before somehow rimming out.  Still, it was a tremendous effort for a young program eager to prove they belong.  Valerie Hutton led the Falcons with 19 points, while Shaina Shah added 16 and Mo Peters contributed 14.

Despite the heartbreaking loss, head coach Ali Mollet remained positive, saying, "We proved to ourselves we can play with just about anybody."  The Falcons will play for the third place trophy on Saturday when they face Monterey Peninsula.
