Softball Dominates Oxnard In Conference Home Opener

Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield College softball team hosted Oxnard College on Tuesday evening at the Dean & Adah Gay Sports Complex in their first Western State Conference game of the year and came away victorious, 10-4.  

The Renegades did not wait long racking up runs; scoring four in the bottom of the first inning. Natilee Parrish started it when she knocked a triple that brought two runs in. Campos then had an RBI groundout, which drove in Parrish from third. An Alexis Venegas RBI triple to right field brought in another.

In the second inning, Parrish had an RBI single to right field that brought home Lysette Castro. Kylee Fahy then reached first on a throwing error that scored two more runs.

Oxnard had a productive top of the third inning, where they scored four runs to cut the BC lead to 7-4. Venegas came back for BC in the fifth and picked up another RBI bringing in Aviana Campos from third. Kayla Sanchez then came in to pinch hit and had two RBI single to right that increased the lead to the eventual final, 10-4

Fahy got the start at pitcher, going all seven innings, collecting eight strikeouts. Offensively, Parrish led the Renegades with two hits and three RBI's. Venegas added two hits and two RBI's.

With today's win, BC improves to 7-6 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

The Renegades will next travel to play at Ventura this Thursday 2/28 at 2:30pm.
