The No 13. Hornets took the loss in game one of the 3C2A Regional Finals at No. 4 Santa Ana College 9-5 on Friday.
Fullerton snagged a 1-0 in the top of the second taking advantage of a Don throwing error on a back-pick attempt to third that gave Isaiah Marquez ample time to reach home plate.
In the bottom of the third, Santa Ana pushed ahead with a 2-1 lead on singles by Mario Tostado and Austin Haller that scored Matthew Dobson and Eddie Pelc.
All was quiet offensively until the top of the sixth when Niko Santamaria blasted a grand slam over the right center fence.
The Hornets' 5-2 lead did not last long as the Dons pounded back with a six-run inning that put the team up 8-5.
Tostado's double to right center in the eighth gave SAC an insurance run after plating Pelc.
FC starter Freddy Castaneda (7-5) took the loss giving up 12 hits, 5 earned runs, had no walks, and 2 K's. Devan Beasley came in for 2.2 innings and had 3 hits against, 1 earned run, and had 2 walks.
