Falcon men make it two in a row with narrow win at Modesto

The Folsom Lake men found yet another way to win on Saturday afternoon as they edged Modesto, 66-63, in a see-saw game that included 8 ties and 17 lead changes.  The Falcons felt fortunate to escape with the win after shooting just 35% from the field and committing 17 turnovers.  The game essentially came down to the final 15 seconds with the Falcons clinging to a one-point lead.  After the Pirates missed a shot, the Falcons rebounded and hit two free throws for a 3-point lead.  The Pirates then took a timeout to draw up a last-second play and got the look they wanted, but the 3-pointer did not fall as the Falcons breathed a sigh of relief.  Everett Campbell led the Falcons with 14 points, while Chris Fairchild had 12 points and led the team with 8 rebounds.

With the win, the Falcons (5-12 overall, 2-3 in Big 8 play) jumped ahead of a trio of rivals at 1-4 (Sac City, Cosumnes River, Sierra) and into 6th place in the Big 8.  They will host Delta (10-8 overall, 3-3 in Big 8) on Tuesday night, then play at Sierra on Friday.
