Baseball Falls to Saddleback to End Season

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. --- No. 11 El Camino College's offensive woes against No. 2 Saddleback continued on Saturday afternoon in a 3-0 loss in game two of the 3C2A Baseball Southern California Super Regionals at Doug Fritz Field.

The Warriors (31-14) season came to an end Saturday as they managed just four singles and had just one runner advance to second base after the second inning against Bobcats' (34-10) pitching.

For the two games against the Bobcats, the Warriors scored just one run on seven hits with one double.

On Saturday, the Warriors got a solid outing from Jason Davis, who made his first start of the season after being named to the All-South Coast Conference First Team as a reliever during the regular season. He went six and 2/3 against the Bobcats and gave up three runs, one earned, on five hits. He did issue five walks without a strikeout, his first outing of the year without a punchout.

Pierce Kingston finished up the game and allowed no runs on three hits with one strikeout and one walk.

But the Bobcats pitching again proved to be the difference as four pitchers combined for the shutout, recording six strikeouts and just two walks. Starter C.J. Zwahlen only went four innings and surrendered all four Warriors hits with one walk and one strikeout. Three Bobcats relievers pitched the remaining five innings without allowing a hit. Ryan Cullinane recorded the win and Blake Butcher got his sixth save of the year.
