The West Valley men's soccer team opened Coast Conference action with an impressive 7-1 win at Chabot Friday afternoon. Pablo Ramirez Belmont paced the Vikings (3-3-2, 1-0 Coast-North) with two goals and three assists, while Christian Vera found the back of the net twice, and Angel Avalos, Bernardo Berardinelli and Andy Garcia had one goal apiece. Viking keeper Irvin Cardoza had four saves on five shots-on-goal by the Gladiators (5-5-1, 0-2 Coast-North). The Vikings finish a five-fixture road swing Oct. 8 at Monterey Peninsula (8-3-0, 0-1-0 Coast-South). Kickoff is 2:00pm.
