After suffering their first defeat of the season the week before, the San Bernardino Valley College women's soccer team knew it would need a strong game in its return home in front of fans during alumni night at SBVC Stadium.

After falling behind 1-0, the Wolverines tied the game in the first half, then used a strong second half performance to defeat Mt. San Antonio College 3-1.

The Wolverines found themselves behind in the 16th minute, as Hannah Grady put a free kick over SBVC's three-player wall and into the upper left corner from about 25 yards out for the 1-0 lead for the Mounties. Mt. SAC continued to pressure the Wolverines, forcing the SBVC to hold tight from there, as it slowly got its offense into action.

In the 33rd minute, the hard work finally ended up providing a goal for SBVC. Caitlyn Sauceda deflected a cross from the left side into the near post to tie the game, sending both teams into the break level at a goal apiece.

Mt. SAC started the second half strong, but the Wolverines wore down the Mounties. SBVC earned five corner kicks in the second half, and outshot the Mounties 10-6 in the final 45 minutes.

But for all the extra pressure, it took a strike from 30 yards out to break the tie. Sauceda came across the ball in the middle of the field, and her shot deflected through the hands off goalkeeper Sophia Kramar and into the back of the net to give the Wolverines the lead in the 87th minute.

The Wolverines kept the pressure on, and in the 89th minute, Sauceda crossed the ball off a corner kick, and it flew to the back post, where Karen Rivera jumped and got her foot on the ball for the final goal.

Kerstin Lecon ended the game with two saves to pick up the win in goal for SBVC.
