No. 6 Canyons Wins Third Straight 70-56 at Citrus

GLENDORA — College of the Canyons won its third straight conference contest 70-56 at Citrus College on Wednesday behind a combined 34 points from freshmen Monique Febles and LuLu Salloom.
Canyons (14-4, 3-1) shot better than 48 percent from the floor as Salloom's 18 points and 16 rebounds led the Cougars in both categories. COC converted on seven three-pointers in the game.
Febles ended with 16 points, three assists, three steals and shot 7-of-14 on the night. Danni Diaz contributed with eight rebounds, three steals, two blocks, three assists and eight points.
Diamyn Davis had nine points and three rebounds. Malia Semana helped keep the pace with nine assists and eight points.
Canyons tallied 11 steals in the game and forced the Owls into 19 total turnovers.
Citrus (9-8, 0-3) saw Katherine Goostrey finish with a game-high 27 points to keep the Owls competitive. Giselle Garcia-Nunez was also a force for the Owls with 19 points and 16 rebounds, including seven offensive boards, and three steals.
The Owls employed a seven-player rotation receiving just six bench points, compared to 34 for COC.
Canyons returns to the Cougar Cage at 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22 vs. West L.A. College (7-8, 2-2).
