Warriors Dominant in Road Victory at San Bernardino Valley

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. --- El Camino College used a dominant defensive effort to secure an impressive 59-13 victory over San Bernardino Valley Saturday night at the SBVC Stadium.

The Warriors (2-2) recorded five takeaways on defense with three interceptions and two fumble recoveries, including one in the endzone to turn a close game after one quarter into a laugher. The Wolverines (1-2) managed just 309 yards of total offense and were held to 82 rushing yards by the Warriors defense.

The game was close after one quarter with the Warriors nursing a 7-6 lead thanks to a missed two-point conversion by the Wolverines. The Warriors made sure the hosts would never be that close again, scoring 46 unanswered points to take a 53-6 lead with 8:17 left in the third quarter and they would cruise on to victory.

Jonathan Johnson, Justin Sanchez and Aaron House each recorded five tackles to lead the defensive effort with House forcing a fumble in the endzone that was recovered by ECC for a touchdown. Sanchez also had a fumble recovery while Keith Morgan, Mekhi Mercer and Tremell Harrell each recorded an interception on the night.

Offensively, Stephen Bradford Jr. was the bright spot again, rushing for 107 yards on just 14 carries. He had a 78-yard run and also scored a touchdown from four yards out. As a team, the Warriors rushed for 212 yards while five players combined to throw for 260 yards.

The Warriors will return home on Saturday night to take on Fullerton in the final non-conference game of the regular season. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

The Warriors will be honoring the All-Decade Team of the 1990s during halftime of the game.
