CCSF named No. 3 seed for NorCal Playoffs, earns 5 postseason honors

The postseason run for the City College of San Francisco women's basketball team officially begins this week as the Rams were named the No. 3 seed for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs. CCSF will host No. 14 College of the Redwoods in a Round 2 game on Thursday, March 3 at 5:30 p.m.

Ticket prices for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) postseason game at the CCSF Wellness Center's Brad Duggan Court are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old.

The Rams surge into the playoffs having won nine straight games. Under head coach Derek Lau, CCSF enters the postseason with a 20-5 overall record. The Rams recently wrapped up their sixth straight Coast Conference North Division championship with a 9-1 mark.

CCSF is in search of its first-ever state championship and will look to return to the state tournament for the first time since 2017. The Rams were state championship runner up in 2011 and have reached the state tournament Final Four in 2010, 2011, 2016, and 2017.

Redwoods enters the playoffs with an 18-9 overall record and finished second in the Golden Valley Conference at 7-3. The Corsairs will be making their second straight postseason appearance under head coach Jain Tuey.

The winner of Thursday's game will advance to Round 3 to face either No. 6 College of the Sequoias (21-5) or No. 11 Modesto Junior College (20-6) on Saturday, March 5. Two wins are needed by the Rams to advance to the CCCAA Basketball State Championships on March 11-13 at West Hills College Lemoore.

2021-22 ALL-COAST CONFERENCE NORTH DIVISION AWARDS

Following the close of the regular season, CCSF earned four All-Coast Conference North Division postseason honors:

Most Valuable Player - Talo Li-Uperesa (Fr., F)
First Team - Mikayla Amoroso (Fr., G), Becca Tasi (So., C)
Second Team - Kaela Stonebarger (So, G)

Also for her standout season, Li-Uperesa was named second-team All-State by the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association (CCCWBCA).
