HORNETS CRUISE TO ROUND 3

In front of the largest crowd of the season, the No. 1 FC men's basketball team took down No. 15 West LA College 106-71 in the Hornets Nest Saturday night advancing to the 3rd round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

The victory also gives Fullerton its 21st straight and 28th overall as the team continues to march closer to some of the Hornet's greatest team records; 1953-54 (31-2), 1960-61 (32-2), 1968-69 (31-4), 1971-72 (33-3), 2005-06 (37-0), and 2018-19 (30-3).

The Orange Empire Conference champions flirted with West LA for the first nine minutes and then, with the score tied 18-18, FC bolted out of the gate with an 18-0 run that was highlighted by Sammy Howlin's power-dunk at the six-minute mark (36-18). The Wildcats did their best to catch up before the halftime break pushing back, but Fullerton's defense was too strong. By halftime, FC held a decent 47-31 lead.

Three-pointers by Jeremiah Davis and Kobe Newton helped the Hornets propel forward in the second half with a thirty-point lead (85-55) with nine minutes left to play. FC did not let up for the remainder hitting the century mark on the scoreboard for the seventh time this season. Fullerton now sits 4th overall in the state averaging 88.1 points per game.

Sean Newman Jr. led all scorers with 24 points while adding 5 assists. Kobe Newton scored 21 points and had 4 rebounds with 4 assists. Jeremiah Davis contributed 20 points with 4 rebounds.
