The Butte College football team ended up sharing the No. 1 seed in the final poll rankings Sunday by the California Community College Athletic Association Football Bowl Game Selection Committee, as City College of San Francisco, which Butte beat 31-21 Saturday in the regular-season finale, was also ranked No. 1 in Northern California.

Though both the Roadrunners and the Rams shared 9-1 overall records and were co-champions of the NorCal Conference along with De Anza (8-2, 4-1), which beat Butte 35-25 on Oct. 20, San Francisco was chosen to play in the Northern California championship game.

The San Francisco Community College Bowl hosted by CCSF on Nov. 24 will have the Rams facing No. 3 seed American River (8-2) for the right to play in the CCCAA Football State Championship game on Dec. 8, hosted by the Southern California champion.

Butte will travel to Fresno next Saturday to face No. 4 seed Fresno City (8-2) in the State Center Bowl. No time for the game has been set.

In Southern California, the National Bowl and the Beach Bowl will serve as semifinal playoff games, with the regional championship game set for Nov. 24, hosted by the higher seed.

The National Bowl features fifth-seeded Saddleback (6-4) at No. 1 south seed Mt. San Antonio (10-0) next Saturday, the same day as the Beach Bowl with No. 3 Bakersfield (8-2) at No. 2 Ventura (10-0).

In other Northern California bowl games next Saturday, No. 5 seed De Anza plays No. 7 San Joaquin Delta (7-3) in the Silicon Valley Bowl at Foothill (Los Altos Hills); No. 8 San Mateo (6-4) hosts No. 11 Sierra (5-5) in the Bothman Bulldog Bowl; No. 9 Diablo Valley (6-4) hosts No. 14 Laney (5-5) in the East Bay Bowl in Pleasant Hill; No. 19 Monterey Peninsula (5-5) hosts No. 13 Contra Costa (7-3) in the Living Breath Foundation Bowl; and No. 6 Siskiyous (9-1) hosts No. 10 Chabot (6-4) in the NCFA Central Division Bowl in Weed.

In other Southern California games Saturday, No. 4 Riverside (8-2) hosts No. 6 Los Angeles Harbor (6-4) in the Golden Gate Bowl; No. 8 Fullerton (6-4) hosts No. 7 Citrus (7-3) in the Western State Bowl; No. 9 Santa Ana (7-3) hosts No. 11 Canyons (6-4) in the Southern California Bowl; No. 10 Southwestern (9-1) hosts No. 13 Santa Monica (9-1) in the American Championship Bowl; and No. 12 Mt. San Jacinto (9-1) hosts No. 16 Los Angeles Pierce (8-2) in the Patriotic Bowl.

Venues are still being solidified for the Southern California, American Championship and Patriotic bowl games.
