Southwestern College drove north from Chula Vista Friday to take on the Citrus Women's Soccer team in a Southern California Regional match at Citrus Stadium. The Owls would send the Jaguars packing, beating the visitors 3-0.

The first half was essentially a stalemate, with both teams playing solid team soccer on both sides of the field. But things took a turn in the 41st minute when a cross ball by the Owls found the foot of a Jaguar player who ended up scoring an own-goal, putting Citrus up 1-0. From that point, the momentum seemed to change. Citrus came alive and took control of the match.

The Owls would pick up where they left off in the first half, pressuring the Southwestern defense with a barrage of shots on goal. By the end of the match, the Owls would have 10 shots on goal to the Jaguars 3. One of the Owl shots would find the back of the net in the 66th minute when Jovanna Maciel served up a nice ball to Monica Perez who took care of the rest. Then, Defender Zeanna Silva was on the receiving end of an Amethyst Trang cross ball, and she elevated and scored on a beautiful header.

Citrus would hold off the late Southwestern push to win the match 3-0, and move to 2-2 overall on the season.

The team laces them up again on Friday at Mt. San Antonio. First touch is at 6:00 PM.
