The Pirates' women's tennis team's line-up for the CCCAA State Singles and Doubles Championships at The Ojai Tournament is set. After three days of exciting action at the Western State Conference Championships, Lea Meschke leads three Pirates into the penultimate event of the season while VC's No. 1 doubles team of Alyssa Powell and Allie De Marco lead three Pirates duos into state beginning Thursday April 26.
Meschke, Powell and De Marco will all play in the state singles competition at The Ojai by virtue of their performances in the WSC Championships. Meschke advanced to the conference quarterfinals to qualify for state while Powell and De Marco each lost in the round of 16 before winning in the back draw to qualify. Jule Lauinger had a match scheduled on Friday to qualify for state in singles, but she was unable to participate due to injury.
In doubles, VC's No. 1 team of Powell and De Marco and No. 2 team of Meschke and Lauinger advanced to the WSC quarterfinals last weekend to qualify for The Ojai. Meanwhile, the No. 3 team of Keressa Garland and Tricia McClain punched their state ticket through the back draw a week ago.
The CCCAA State Championships at The Ojai will be held Thursday through Sunday, April 26-29 at various courts throughout the greater Ventura/Oxnard/Ojai area.
