Win at Fullerton sets up showdown for men's tennis team

The Irvine Valley men's team clinched at least a share of an Orange Empire Conference title on Tuesday.

The Lasers won at Fullerton, 8-1, to improve their record to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in conference.

IVC leads Riverside by a match for first place in the standings.

And the two squads meet on Thursday at Irvine Valley at 2 p.m. IVC defeated the Tigers, 5-4, on the road in the first match-up.

The Lasers had no problem against Fullerton, winning all three doubles contests and then five of six singles matches.

In doubles, the teams of sophomore Devon Kashishian and freshman Alyan Asraf, sophomores Kiichi Ishida and Harold Santana and freshmen Sergio Jardas and Rudra Pathak each won matches, 8-0.

And in singles, Santana, Jardas, Pathak and sophomore Shane Iranpour each won in straight sets. Freshman Taro Sakai earned a default win on the sixth court.

Pathak and Iranpour didn't give up a game in victories.
