M. SOCCER: RIVALRY GAME ENDS IN TIE

Fullerton welcomed Golden West College to Hornet Field on Friday for an important Orange Empire Conference game that ended in a 2-2 tie.

It was another very physical game with emotions running high that featured two of the top teams in the OEC. Fullerton has now tied its last two games keeping them 2-3-2 in conference-play, while the Rustlers sit atop the standings at 5-0-2.

GWC scored the first goal of the game in the 35th minute, but Fullerton soon answered back on a shot in the 43rd minute on a header by Sergio Ibarra

In the second half, both teams continued to battle it out making excellent defensive plays, until Golden West took a 2-1 lead in the 80th minute. With the game looking grim for Fullerton, Ibarra knocked in his second goal of the game to tie it up with three minutes left in regulation.

From there, both teams did their best to take the lead, however there was not enough time on the clock.

FC goalie Andres Ramirez had 2 saves and 2 goals against in 90 minutes.

Up Next: Fullerton (8-5-3 overall, 2-3-2 OEC) will take a much-needed break over the weekend and then get back at it on Tuesday, October 26th when they hit the road against a tough Santa Ana College squad (4-0-1 OEC). Game time is at 3:00 pm.
