No. 9 Hawks snap losing streak with 5-0 win at Ohlone

Freshman Katherine Magana scored a pair of goals to help lead the No. 9 state-ranked Las Positas College women's soccer team to a 5-0 Coast Conference victory at Ohlone College on Tuesday.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Hawks and improved their record to 9-2 overall and 1-2 in Coast Conference play. Now back in the win column, Las Positas can finally breath. The Hawks got off to an amazing 8-0 start but stumbled out the gate when they hit their conference schedule.

On Tuesday, Magana gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead with her goal in the 30th minute off the assists from Alyssa Sullivan and Tiffani Cheng. Her second goal of the contest came in the 55th minute thanks to the assist from Marisa Marquez, and extended the LPC advantage to 3-0.

McKenna Masinter, Cheng, and Caitlyn Garrison also score for Las Positas. Garrison's team-leading 13th goal closed out the scoring in the 65th minute.

Dariana Mihalache and the LPC defense posted their eighth shutout in 10 games this season.

Las Positas will look to keep the momentum going when the Hawks return to action on Friday (Oct. 8). They travel to Chabot College for another Coast Conference game.
