Tale of Two Halves, Spartans Come Up Short

Women's Soccer team in a huddle before their first game.

After a tough battle, the lady Spartans fall short with a 4-1 loss to the Orange Coast College Pirates. In just their first game of the season the young Spartans felt growing pains. Head Coach Miguel Barragan shared his thoughts, "It was a tough result for our first game of the season.  I thought we showed good confidence and poise on the ball in the first half.  Unfortunately, the second half was a bit wild and Orange Coast got the better of it. I'm confident that our team will keep improving"

The lone goal for the Spartans came from Josephine Mageo at the 23rd minute of the game. The unassisted goal gave the Spartans the first lead but the Pirates quickly answered in the 36th minute to tie the game.  The Spartans went to half-time with a 1-1 score.  The second half MiraCosta gave up three goals leading to the loss.

MiraCosta will look to improve in their next game on Saturday at 11AM against LA Pierce at home.
