Andrews era starts on a high note

The Saddleback women's water polo team opened the season with a 19-2 win against Rio Hondo College on Friday morning in the Saddleback pool.  It was a perfect start for first year coach Molly Andrews.

Saddleback scored five times in the opening quarter in taking a 5-1 for a quick start to the day.  The Bobcats would tack on 12 more straight goals over the next 2.5 quarters before Rio Hondo could finally answer with its second goal as Saddleback grabbed a 17-2 lead 3:20 remaining in the game.  Saddleback cruised the rest of the way, finishing with a 19-2 advantage.

Malia Abrahamian led Saddleback with seven goals in the game.  Abrahamian scored in every quarter, tallying her final goal at the 6:30 mark in the fourth quarter for a 17-1 lead.  Macie Schniepp and Malak Abousalama both added three goals of their own.

Saddleback dropped the second game of the day to Ventura College, 17-7.

The Bobcats will be back in action next Friday when they host El Camino College and Chaffey College.
