Taking up where she left off in 2021, Seraphina Vossen posted a perfect 4-0 day at the 2022 Viking Doubles Day in Saratoga Friday.

Vossen, who was one of state's top players during the unofficial 2021 "season", helped Coach Lauren Hickey's Vikings post a 7-3 match mark in the season-opening outing against some stiff NorCal competition. She teamed with Brynn McKenzie to blank Reedley's Melanie Mestre/Saige Flemming 8-0 in the morning Line2 opener. One court over, WVC's Line1 pair, Abigail Prokter and Sonya Hu dispatched Solano's Crismon sisters 8-3.

The 11:20 round pitted the Vikings against perrenial Big 8 Conference power American River. WVC's Line2 pair of Hu and Zeynep Aynaci topped ARC's Jori Jacobs/Sarah Reade 8-2, while Vossen teamed with Prokter to defeat Haley Van Orman/Jackie Savage 8-3 in the Line1 match.

The Vikings took on another Big 8 powerehouse, Modesto Jr. College, in the 2:00pm match. Pirates Calista McShane and Jenna Watkins pulled out a back-and-forth 9-7 Line3 win over McKenzie and Natasha Sackx. Hu and Aynaci beat Kendra Branch/Tayla Barry 8-3 in the Line2 contest and then, in the match of the day, Vossen and Prokter, as they did in last summer's ITA NorCal championship, rallied past Modesto's Brunia Boliscar and Sarah White, 9-8 (5) in the Line1 match.

Amazingly, a gassed Vossen and Prokter defeated Sierra's Bailey Greenwell/McKenna Schmidt 8-2 immediately after their match with Modesto ended. In the Line2 match, Hu and McKenzie fell 8-6 to Wolverines Ashley Flynn/Sofia Mazzola, and WVC's Line3 team of Julia Ocher and Sackx dropped an 8-3 decision to Sierra's Cassandra Rhoades and Gabriella Espinoza.
