Hawks continue hot start with 11-0 rout of Redwoods

Freshmen Alyssa Sullivan (Arroyo HS) and Tiffani Cheng (Castro Valley HS) both had a hat trick with three goals each to help lead the Las Positas College women's soccer team to an 11-0 victory over visiting College of the Redwoods on Wednesday.

Las Positas has been dominant on its way to a 4-0 record. The Hawks defense and sophomore goalkeeper Dariana Mihalache (College Park HS) have yet to allow a goal this year while the offense is averaging six goals per game, totaling 24 so far this season.

Sullivan capped a 6-0 opening-half for the Hawks, scoring her third goal just moments before the halftime whistle. Cheng secured her hat trick with her third goal in the 60th minute to put Las Positas up 9-0.

Isabel Mello (Livermore HS) added two goals while Caitlyn Garrison (Livermore HS), Katherine Magana (San Leandro HS), and Halleigh MacPherson (Foothill HS) all scored.

"Despite the heat we played well and ironed out a couple things as we get closer to conference play," said LPC head coach Andy Cumbo.

Las Positas looks to keep its unbeaten run going on Friday (Sep. 10) when the Hawks travel to Diablo Valley College for a 2:30 p.m. non-conference game.
