Monica Pizano scored in the 60th minute to tie Tuesday's game and SBCC went on to tie No. 20 Moorpark 2-2 in a WSC North women's soccer match at Moorpark.

The two-time defending WSC champion Vaqueros (7-6-2, 4-1-1) moved into a first-place tie with No. 11 Cuesta. Ventura (3-3-0) upset the Cougars 2-1 on Tuesday.

Lovisa Sigbratt tied the score 1-1 in the 41st minute by tapping in a rebound after Molly Branigan's 40-yard free kick was saved by the goalie. She's scored two goals in the last two games. The Raiders (7-3-4, 2-2-2) regained a 2-1 advantage when Carolyn Quandt scored in the 55th minute.

Five minutes later, Pizano drove through three players on the right flank, cut inside and unleashed a 25-yard shot into the top left corner for the game-tying score.

"We had to play in 103-plus conditions and on a surface we do not play our best on," said coach John Sisterson. "But it was a game that we were determined not to lose. That was a super goal by Monica.

"We continued to press Moorpark and were unlucky not to get the winner when Savannah Mohatt hit a 'daisy cutter' from 30 yards only to see the keeper make a great save. Then five minutes later, Alejandra Alvarez and Emilia Sigbratt linked up on the left and Monica was inches away from getting on the end of Emilia's cross with the keeper beaten.

"Even though we didn't win, it was a championship, workmanlike performace in the heat that sent us to the top of the conference."

The Vaqueros have a key WSC game at Ventura on Friday at 7 p.m. Santa Barbara won the first meeting, 2-1, on Oct. 1 at La Playa Stadium.
