COD Women’s Basketball falls to the Vikings, 51-42

COD (3-13) could smell victory, as Anastasia Reagins grabbed her 9th double-double of the season, but the team fell just short and the Barstow Vikings (1-12) walked away with their first win in 11 months, 51-42.

In a fairly evenly matched contest, Desert was only down two after the first quarter, 13-11 and only down a point at halftime, 20-19, but the Vikings took a seven point lead after three, 36-29 and never looked back as the Roadrunners lost to Barstow.

Even though the game was played as a "non-Conference" game, these teams will face off again on Saturday in an Inland Empire Athletic Conference contest.

Freshman starting center Anastasia Reagins (Palm Springs H.S.) led the team with 17 points on 7 of 20 shooting, grabbing 10 total rebounds, nine of those offensive, and three blocked shots on the evening.

Freshman starting guard Geraldine Padua (Indio Shadow Hills) added ten points, on 5 of 16 shooting and freshman starting guard Erika Barrera (Thermal Desert Mirage) led the team in assists with six and snagged six steals.

Sophomore starting guard Marisa Givens (Palm Desert H.S.) led the team in steals with seven and had nine total boards.
