Men's Tennis suffers tough loss to Riverside City

In a non-conference match on Friday, the Cerritos College men's tennis team suffered a 5-4 home loss at the hands of Riverside City College. The Falcons (5-3) are scheduled to host Ventura College on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., but the incoming rain may force the match to be postponed.

In position to potentially sweeping all three doubles matches, the Falcons suffered a blow when freshman Michael Doria (La Serna HS) went down with an injury. Teaming with sophomore Saar Rogovski (Menacham Begin, Israel HS/College of the Desert), the duo was in a battle with Aurelien Arlot and Florian Sirven in the #2 match and were trailing, 5-4 at the time of the injury. Not only did it make it a 2-1 Cerritos team lead, but it forced the bottom half of the singles ladder to each move up a position.

All three Falcon players were swept in singles action, which was the difference in the match. Although freshman Arthur Bellegy (Lycée Molière, France HS) lost his first singles match of the year, 0-6, 6-4, 1-6, the duo of Rogovski (7-6, 7-5) and freshman Victor Bonsergent (Lycée Technologique Val de Saône, France HS), who led 6-3, 4-0 over Chris Lee when he had to retire, each won their matches.

Doubles partners Bellegy and Bonsergent posted an 8-5 doubles win, while freshmen Luke Andrews (Columbine, CO HS) and Brendan Harden (Lakewood HS) came away with an 8-2 win.
