COD (7-3) Women's Tennis continues their magic touch as they headed to the road again, upsetting the #2 seeded Riverside City Tigers (11-3), 5-3.

In doubles play, the team of freshman Shekinah Daffon (Palm Springs H.S.) and freshman Antonella Mazzotti (Rancho Mirage H.S.) took down the #2 seeded Tigers in a hotly contested match, 8-6. The team of freshman Emunah Daffon (Palm Springs H.S.) and freshman Agustina Berrondo (Tucumán (ARG) Institute Hermanas Esclavas) won easily, 8-0. Riverside City would win the third doubles match in a walkover.

In singles play, Mazzotti and Shekinah Daffon effortlessly won in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-0. Emunah Daffon had to fight back from a 6-1 loss in her second set, to take the match in extras, 6-2. Berrondo was losing in the extra set, 4-2, when Emunah Daffon grabbed the fifth and deciding match win. Freshman Kimberly Jimenez (Rancho Mirage H.S.) fell in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-0 and the Tigers took the sixth singles match in a walkover.

The next match for College of the Desert Women's Tennis will be on the road where they will advance to the CCCAA Southern California Finals, facing a familiar foe, South Coast Conference opponent and Regional top seed, the El Camino Warriors on Tuesday, April 19th at 2p. Admission is free.

College of the Desert defeated Riverside City College, 5-3 in the 2nd round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs at Riverside City College in Riverside.
