Hawks Fall in Back to Back Close Games

Pittsburg, CA –In a holiday shortened week, the Hawks took to the road for the third and fourth game of their season. The first game saw Cosumnes River College take on the College of San Mateo at 3:00pm. The Hawks fought hard, but were unable to overcome a solid defense by San Mateo. The offense for the Hawks ran through their two middles, but the offense was not able to be spread around. Freshmen Middles, Kaley Dosier and Miah Williamson both contributed 9 kills to help carry  the Hawk offensive attack.

The defense for Cosumnes River helped keep them in the game. The front line was anchored by Miah Williamson's 5 blocks (2 solo, 3 combo). Freshman Defensive Specialist Isabella Bugarin dug 11 of the attacks by San Mateo. Sophomore Abigail Hicks contributed 26 digs to help inspire and set the tone for the defense. Despite the strong defensive effort, CRC fell in 4 sets (25-21, 15-25, 20-25, 15-25).

After the unfortunate defeat, the Hawks had short time to recover before they faced the hosting Mustangs of Los Medanos. Once again, the middles buoyed the offense for CRC.
