One goal is enough as Falcons defeat Butte

Friday evening's matchup of two undefeated men's soccer teams resembled a heavyweight boxing match, with Folsom Lake and Butte trading heavy blows throughout the match but with neither able to knock the other one out.  The teams were evenly matched - as evidenced by the scoreless first half of play – and both featured talented players.  But it was Folsom Lake that drew first blood in the 58th minute when Kameron Kascht passed to a waiting Ethan Viers for a 1-0 Falcon lead.  The Roadrunners did not back down, instead intensifying their offensive push in an effort to tie the score.  But again, the Falcon defense was up to the task and held the visitors in check.  Falcon freshmen goalkeepers Arman Salimi and Gerardo Perez shared the spotlight as they combined for the shutout victory.

The men will face Feather River on Tuesday evening in the second half of a home doubleheader at Falcon Stadium.
