HORNETS TAKE DOWN DONS

Fullerton broke out on the road against Santa Ana College Wednesday night with a 62-57 victory over the Dons.

The Hornets had a rough couple of games last week falling to Cypress and Riverside City, but the FC offense woke up Wednesday night hitting Santa Ana with 19-5 lead in the first quarter. FC maintained a decent lead in the second quarter holding a 27-17 lead by halftime.

Fullerton did not let up in the third quarter with Janelle Ramos and Jocelyn Rea both leading the way with 6 points each. By the 1-minute mark, the Hornets held their biggest lead of 21 (46-25) that was capped off by a 3-point shot by Celise Moreno

The game took a turn for the worse for FC in the fourth as Santa Ana snuck back into the game in the last couple of minutes. Holding a 55-45 lead with 2:18 left in regulation, the Fullerton shooting turned ice cold, and the Dons took advantage hitting their shots. Santa Ana's Nicole Robles gave the Hornets a scare hitting a 3-pointer with 2 seconds left cutting FC's once large lead to 3 (60-57). Quickly fouled and sent to the free throw line with a second left, Janelle Ramos sunk both attempts to seal the game for Fullerton.

Destiny Goodloe led all scorers in the game with 17 points. She also added 6 rebounds and 6 steals. Janelle Ramos had a big game with 14 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double. Bri Landreos was solid with 12 points and 12 rebounds with a double-double of her own.

Up Next: The Hornets (9-10 overall, 2-2 OEC) hit the road again this Friday, January 28th when they play Golden West College at 5:00 pm.
