Beach Volleyball Drops Two in Season Opener

RESULTS

The Riverside City College beach volleyball team hit the road for the first game of the season as they took on the El Camino College Warriors and the Mt. San Jacinto College Eagles in non-conference action. The Tigers dropped both matched by the final scores of 5-0 (El Camino) and Mt. San Jacinto (4-1).

Riverside's number three duo featuring freshman tandem Audrey Elias and Nina Peay reeled in the lone victory of the day. They defeated Mt. San Jacinto's third pair in three sets with final scores reading 18-21, 21-18 and 15-10 in a come from behind showing. Their opening match up against El Camino went three sets, but they fell in a deciding third set, 6-15. They reigned supreme in the second set 22-20.

All other matches concluded in straight set sweeps. Top duo Mya Castro and Lanah Bergen came close in their second match against Mt. San Jacinto, but they were unable to close the gap.

Freshman duo Jada Cottom and Kelly Moore were the Tigers second squad, while freshman pairing Paris Toaetolu and Katie Moore made up the Tiger's fourth pairing. They did not field a fifth duo resulting in two forfeits.
