In a South Coast Conference match on Thursday, the Cerritos College women's tennis team was defeated by Rio Hondo College, 6-3. The loss drops the Falcons to 1-9 overall and 0-3 in conference action. The team will come right back on Friday at 1:00 p.m. to host Riverside City College in a non-conference match.

In the match, Cerritos gave the Roadrunners two teams points with a forfeit in both singles and doubles. The Falcons won the top doubles match, as the freshmen pairing of Samantha Sanchez (Bellflower HS) and Clara Kim (Warren HS) earned a convincing 8-2 win. Kim completed the sweep on the day with a 6-1, 6-2 singles win in the #2 position on the ladder.

The only other win for the Falcons in singles came from Andrea Antonio (Garfield HS), who came back to defeat Yadira Naranjo, 1-6, 6-1, 6-3, while freshman Mikaela Ramirez (La Mirada HS) came out on the short side of a three-set match, 6-3, 6-1, 6-0.
