The VC women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to visiting College of the Canyons Tuesday at the VC Tennis Center. Alyssa McClain was a double winner, winning her No. 6 singles match and teaming up with Dee Emami to claim the No. 3 doubles match. Elizabeth Nguyen won her No. 4 singles match for the third point for the Pirates (1-2, 0-2).
McClain and Emami earned VC's lone point in doubles play with an 8-5 win at the No. 3 slot. Tanya Thompson and Iskra Volic narrowly missed a second point, dropping their No. 2 doubles contest 9-8.
In singles, McClain won her No. 6 contest 6-2, 6-1 and Nguyen claimed the No. 4 match 7-6 (7-1), 6-2.
Ventura next hosts Bakersfield on Thursday Feb. 10. Doubles play is slated to begin at 2:00 pm at the VC Tennis Center.
