WVC offense erupts in 6-0 win over Contra Costa

The West Valley men's soccer team put together a complete 90-minute game offensively and defensively in a 6-0 blanking of Contra Costa College Thursday at Dick Schwendinger Field.

The Viking offense fired 10 shots on goal, while the defense didn't allow a single Comet shot to help keeper Patrick Brasil record his first collegiate clean sheet. Miguel Moreno got things started in the 13th minute with a goal off a Salomon Kendaya assist. A'Tonal Torres (Miguel Medina assist) found the back of the net at 43' and then Medina (Brian Mariano) made it 3-0 at the half with a score just before the whistle.

WVC's David Hernandez took over in the second half, scoring goals at 73' (Rune Petersen), and 75" (Petersen) and then closing it out with a helper to Moritz Gerdes in the 79th minute.

The Vikings host CCCAA #4-ranked Folsom Lake (4-0-1) Saturday, Sept. 18. Kickoff is 1:00pm.
