The MSJC softball team split a pair of games last week as they lost at home to Chaffey on Monday, but bounced back to win on the road at Cerro Coso on Wednesday.

Monday the Eagles had a rough third inning as they fell to visiting Chaffey 12-3 in five innings.  After the first two innings were scoreless for each team the Panthers broke out with 7 runs in the third to take control of the game.  MSJC did put three runs on the board in the bottom of the 5th Jasmine Barerras drove in Amy Naranjo with an RBI double to left field, followed by an Ana Gastelum RBI single and an RBI ground out from Hailey Matthews.

Wednesday the Eagles bounced back in a wild game at Cerro Coso as the offense exploded for a 23-15 win.  Barerras, Veronica Prado, and Alexis Aldridge each drove in 3 runs as MSJC put together 17 hits in the game.  Barerras added a homerun for the Eagles as she went a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate.  Matthews scored four runs in the contest and had both a double an a triple in the game as every player in the line-up scored at least once.  Ten different Eagles drove in runs in the victory.

The Eagles are now 9-11 overall on the season and 4-2 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play.  Thursday the Eagles will travel to Palomar College for a 2 pm non-conference game, before hosting San Bernardino Valley on Friday in Menifee for an IEAC doubleheader.  Friday's first game is set to begin at noon.
