Alexis Cordero came up clutch for Citrus College in the bottom of the seventh, knocking an RBI single to lift the Owls 2-1 in walk-off fashion over No. 15-ranked College of the Canyons.

The Owls improve to 6-3 overall and remain undefeated in Western State Conference-South action while snapping a five-game winning streak for the Cougars, who drop to 6-2 on the year and 1-1 in conference.

Samantha Meyndert had a game for the Owls, going 3-for-3 at the plate with one RBI and scoring the game-winning run. Meyndert also threw seven innings in the circle for Citrus, grabbing two strikeouts and allowing just one run.

Citrus struck first with a run in the bottom of the second to take a 1-0 lead. With Desiree Loza on second, Meyndert traded places with her with a double of her own to put the Owls in front.

The Cougars equalized in the top of the fifth to make things interesting, but Citrus shut down the visitors' offense in the sixth and seventh to give the Owls a chance for a walk-off victory.

Meyndert led the inning off with a hard single through the left side and advanced to third on a Marissa Gallegos base hit. It put her in scoring position as Cordero stepped up to the plate and blasted a base hit past the pitcher to allow Meyndert to come home for the game-winner.

The Owls close out their busy week of four games in four days tomorrow, hosting Rio Hondo College at 1 p.m.
