Men’s Volleyball Wins Eighth Straight with Sweep of Santa Monica

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College won its eighth straight match with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-11) Western State Conference victory over Santa Monica on Friday night at the ECC Gym Complex.

The Warriors (11-4, 8-1) only attacked at a .236 clip on Friday but the Corsairs (6-7, 5-3) committed 26 errors to help ECC score the sweep.

Ethan Morgan was perfect on the night, recording seven kills on seven swings without an error and he added two blocks in the win. Travis Hannemann led the team with nine kills and Vladimir Kubr dished out 21 assists.

The Warriors used a big scoring run in the first set to pull away and take a 1-0 lead. In the second, the Warriors built a 16-11 cushion and, despite the Corsairs cutting the lead to one point at 20-19, the Warriors never relinquished the lead and scored five of the last seven points to clinch the set.

The third set was a runaway for ECC as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead and then a 7-2 advantage. The team would take an eight-point lead at 12-4 and only grew the advantage from there to score a lopsided 25-11 win and record the sweep.

The Warriors will return to action next Friday when L.A. Pierce visits the ECC Gym Complex at 6 p.m.
