Gauchos crown Olympians

The Saddleback men's tennis team picked up an 8-1 win against San Diego Mesa College on Friday in San Diego.  The Gauchos dominated in singles play to improve to 9-5 overall.

Saddleback finished up the week of non-conference play with an impressive finish against San Diego Mesa, winning every set in singles play.  The Gauchos had a 74-22 advantage in total games in singles play, including a 6-0, 6-0 win by Ivan Ozerets at No. 5 singles and a forfeit win at No. 6 singles with Anthony Tran.

Saddleback scored other wins in singles play as Tyler Edwards won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, Chris Torcaso was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 4 singles, Lucas Fortt won 7-6, 6-3 at No. 3 singles and Shayan Haddad Kaveh was a 6-4, 7-6 winner at No. 1 singles.   Torcaso (pictured) and Edwards then teamed for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles before Oliver Ludwig and Ryan Burns scored a default win at No. 3 doubles.

Saddleback is currently 9-5 overall and 4-2 in Orange Empire Conference play with three OEC matches and two non-conference matches remaining on the schedule.  The Gauchos will face inter-district rival Irvine Valley College on Tuesday at IVC.  Match time is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
