No. 23 Palomar advances to second round

COACHELLA, CA (11/16/2022) -- In the first round of the CCCAA SoCal Regional Playoffs, No. 23 Palomar College headed to No. 10 College of the Desert and won 3-1 to upset the Roadrunners.

The Roadrunners struck first, scoring an unassisted goal in the 35th minute. At halftime, the Comets adjusted and returned to playing their game. In the 75th minute, Eddie Villagrana connected a pass from Thomas Marques to tie the game. Three minutes later, Kael Kortz gave the Comets the lead on an assist from Diego Picano. The final goal was an unassisted goal by Henry Galindo in the 85th minute.

Goalkeeper Max Subra had four saves in ninety minutes. The Comets had 14 shots and four corner kicks on the night.

With the win, the Comets advance to the second round and will face No. 7 Golden West College on Saturday at 2 p.m. on the road. Palomar is now 12-6-3 overall.
